Robert Shuftan Named to Lawdragon’s “100 Managing Partners You Need to Know”

Leads Firm to Record Financial Success, Drives Pro Bono Commitment

CHICAGO – Wildman Harrold Managing Partner Robert L. Shuftan has been named to Lawdragon’s inaugural listing of “100 Managing Partners You Need to Know.”

Managing partners from across the country were selected for the listing through a combination of nominations, Lawdragon’s editorial research, and outreach to more than 50,000 legal professionals for their input on the lawyers making news in firm leadership.

Serving as Wildman Harrold’s Managing Partner and Chairman of the Executive Committee since 1998, Shuftan’s “leadership” and “pragmatic innovation” secured his place on the list, according to the guide. In 2007, the firm recorded its best financial year in its 40-year history, further solidifying Wildman Harrold as one of the country’s high-performing law firms. Wildman Harrold’s impressive financial growth occurred simultaneously with a record increase in pro bono hours at the firm.

“We were very impressed with Bob’s strategic accomplishments on behalf of Wildman Harrold, as well as the respect he has earned among his peers at the firm, and across the legal community,” said Katrina Dewey, Lawdragon CEO and Publisher. “He has a unique blend of leadership skills that people respond positively to.”

Shuftan’s inclusion in the Lawdragon listing also represents a significant honor and accomplishment for Wildman Harrold, a 200-attorney business law firm based in Chicago, representing Fortune 500 companies and private businesses nationwide. During Shuftan’s tenure, the firm has remained true to its strategy of expanding its national practice in three core areas: complex litigation, business transactions and intellectual property.

Notably, over the past year the firm expanded its IP, technology and new media practice with a Los Angeles office, attracting a string of significant lateral additions. Partner Dominique Shelton joined Wildman Harrold’s LA office from Kaye Scholer in June, following the May arrival of entertainment industry litigator Carole Handler from Foley & Lardner, and the addition of Alan L. Friel, also from Kaye Scholer, in March. Former Paramount in-house counsel Nancy Derwin-Weiss joined the firm’s LA practice in 2007.

Shuftan received his law degree from Harvard University in 1979 and his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois in 1976. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Center on Lawyers and the Professional Services Industry at Harvard Law School.
